Interior jeweler Vanhoutteghem in Ghent (BE)
The design and realization of the interior of jeweler Vanhoutteghem in Ghent was architecturally challenging due to the narrow and elongated structure of the building, with multiple shop windows. The store narrows towards the rear, which had to be solved constructively. There were many staggered walls and height differences in the floor. The most important question for WSB Design was: how do you create aesthetic tranquility? How do you maintain cohesion in a small jewelry store?
The client’s wishes were to integrate brand shops into the store (Omega, Breitling, Tag Heuer and Zenith) and to design specific spaces, such as a workshop for watchmakers, a pantry with desk for staff, a counter with bar and various sales zones. WSB aimed for a department store feel, where customers can shop from one department to another brand and move freely.
Well thought-out store design by WSB
This was achieved by creating several passageways, such as the connection between Omega and the sales area. The use of materials throughout the store exudes warm luxury, with natural stone on the floor and unique display cases with natural stone and refined details. The wall panels are equipped with acoustic wallpaper from Moooi. The counter also has unique details, such as integrated LED lighting in the furniture top.
The result is a renewed store design with well-thought-out routing and a style characterized by subtle sand tones for a calm appearance. A comfortable waiting area has been created, as well as privacy in the luxurious sales lounge. There are three seated sales points and two double standing sales points to meet different customer needs.
