Turn key interior design Schmutz Opticiens in Switzerland
The assignment from Christian, owner of Schmutz Opticiens, was clear: create a world of experience with the keywords of our identity: class, personality, warmth and creativity. A touch of Haussmann Style with luxurious and timeless accents. Noble materials and fine detailing. Rick Blankenstijn and Rick Schreuder of WSBDesign.com talk about their good collaboration with Christian Schmutz and Jacques Siboz.
Rick Blankenstijn says: “The range at Schmutz Opticians is really very good. We know many top European optical stores, but Schmutz plays ‘Champions League’ when it comes to range and customer service. The old interior had been expensive and had quality, but no longer up to date.
Turn key design and furnishing for Schmutz. The end result is cool and commercially successful. But the process of design, preparation, purchasing, construction supervision and implementation also went extremely smoothly. Within a short time we receive various assignments in the Swiss world in the field of interior design and realization. A great challenge for us!”
Appropriate strategy for shopfitting optician
Rick Schreuder adds: “In our design we worked with refined leathers, brass accents, natural stone with gold veins, spraying and acoustic wallpaper. But we also paid a lot of attention to the strategy: which philosophy is commercial for this store and how do we shape this in the shop design? Which routing is most effective? In the end, with Christian and Jacques, we opted for a clear separation: the design of the left-hand wall presentation focuses on inspiration and unlimited choice. In the right-hand part of the store, the substantive and personal attention to customer-centric.”
The largest part of the beautiful collection is presented in the drawers. The combination between eye care and eye fashion has been strengthened in this way. The workshop is located in a visible location in the store. The various examination rooms are friendly, bright and professional, but not too medical. There are only three large visuals throughout the store that tell the identity of the store.

The process of construction supervision and the realization of the shop design optics
Following on from the design process, WSB provided the description of the specifications, the working drawings, the requests and purchasing from the subcontractors for our client Schmutz. The people at WSB speak French, German, English and, of course, Dutch. The bills of the local subcontractors such as the electrician, climate control, finishing, painting and alarm went directly to the client. After consultation with the clients, local architects and supervisors were not used for this project. It was not necessary. If desired, WSB can take care of the process from A to Z with the help of local subcontractors.
